Photo of Slater Mill
In this captivating case study focusing on the jury photo assignment, my task was to capture the essence of the jury through compelling imagery. The adventure began at Stater Mill, a historical gem in Pawtucket, on a cloudy day. Undeterred by the weather, I skillfully seized the moment, utilizing a shutter speed of 1 to 3 seconds to beautifully capture the cascading waterfall’s dynamic speed. Transitioning to the enchanting Blackstone, I framed a stone house with precision. Upon completing the photography phase, I delved into the realm of post-production magic using Photoshop. Employing the Nik HDR Efex program, I seamlessly blended three images to craft the final masterpiece.
Although the initial images were impressive, my journey continued with meticulous editing. Transforming vibrant colors into timeless black and white, I ensured each photo stood out with a unique allure. Slater Mill presented its own challenges, requiring careful cropping to eliminate distracting background elements, allowing the focus to remain on the subject. The culmination of this artistic endeavor was met with resounding success – a perfect score of 100 and widespread appreciation for the captivating photographs.
